Picture of the Day - This Is Flop

Flop is finally finished mothering her latest batch of kits. She is looking a little rough, but I'm sure in 8 or 9 weeks she will be back at it again. She is a sneaky rabbit. Always close by but hidden for the most part until evening.

We hear Flop almost every night as she clings tightly to the side of the house to avoid predators. She usually will bump a chair or two as she crosses the porch. She also sets off the alarm at the same time every night as she makes her way to the pasture where she meets up with Jax. (Jack Rabbit).

I was pleased to see her out my kitchen window where she was feasting on the new grass that is coming up. I'm certain this must be her favorite time of the year when the snow is gone, and the new crop of grass is growing.

She will be as surprised as I was about the five inches of snow forecasted for tonight. She will just burrow down to reach the grass like she does all winter, except this grass will still be green. It's not particularly cold (33* degrees), but her heavy white fur coat has changed into brown camouflage mode for the season. How cool is that?
