Shhh !!!



                                     Our Guests arrived this morning at 6:30 am after driving all night long. After a big breakfast of Calico Potatoes and Smoked Spam, requested by the youngest Master Hamsnthal, they are catching up on some much needed sleep. You can find the recipe for Calico Potatoes under Potatoes in the Label section of my blog.  Praise God for a safe uneventful trip!








                                      I'm not sure how much posting I will get done for the next seven days, but I will do my best. I appreciate your patience. While I was cooking we had around fifteen hot air balloons flying around. I did not get any pictures because I was preparing breakfast and didn't think to snap some shots. Sorry! Maybe they will be out tomorrow too. All the small local towns are having their Summer festivals right now. I hope to go to one or two. I love the local crafts and people watching at these events.

Company's Coming !!!!!

We are so blessed by God with true friends. The Hamsnthal's are coming for a visit, not just mom and dad, but their boys too. We have shared the joys of having children vicariously through our friends and I must say that WE  (Ha Ha ) have raised some fine young men. This will be their (boys) first trip here and we are looking forward to sharing this part of our life with them.




We added two chairs and a leaf to our dinning table to accommodate
our guests. Sharing meals together is a great pleasure for me, since
I love to cook and it's a time to for all of us to share our hopes
and dreams...


Over the years, we have taken many vacations together and have literally traveled through a hurricane together. What a blast ! We have become an intricate part of each other's lives for many years and many more to come. I pray for safe travels and adventures for all...

Nothing New Under The Sun...





We are still working around the house. We hauled a load of trash off to the dump yesterday. We still have to finish the coop. We picked up the last of the supplies for it a couple of days ago. So far, we have only purchased screws, wire and a couple of pieces of re bar from retail stores. Everything else has been purchased from Re-Store (Habitat for Humanity). It is possible to make an affordable coop and yard. I will share  "how too" as soon as we complete everything.

We have been hiking every other day for the last two weeks and have logged over fifteen miles on just three of the hikes. This may not sound like much, but at 9,000 feet in the Rockies it's pretty good. Today, we will hike a new trail at a nearby state park. I need to make up our lunches and get our packs in order before we head out for a new adventure. God has provided an amazing place for all of us to live and play. Thank you, Father...

Baby Lima Beans And Jalapeno Corn Bread


Sort, rinse and drain 1 lb of Baby Lima beans. Cover beans with water (8 cups)
in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 4 minutes.
remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 2 hours. Do not drain.


Ingredients: 4 cloves crushed garlic, ham bone, 2 bay leaves,
2 potatoes peeled and cubed, 4 large carrots peeled and sliced,
4 celery stalks sliced thin, 1 large onion chopped, 1/2 tsp crushed thyme,
2 tbs bouillon, 1/2 tsp pepper and a pinch of cayenne pepper.


Add ham bone to pot of boiling beans, add all ingredients except potatoes and carrots.
Simmer on low for one hour. Remove ham bone from pot and pick meat from bone. Add meat,
potatoes and carrots to the pot and cook until veggies are tender. (about 30 minutes) 






Serve with Jalapeno corn bread...

Finally, The Sabbath...




Praise God for a day off ! We have been so busy cleaning, repairing, building and organizing that I have only had time to put a few thoughts down and take a picture here and there.
Monday:
The monsoonal rains have begun to fall and cool things off a bit. Thank God! I know that it has not been as hot as some parts of the country, but when your not used to it your just not used to it. The rains have also helped to get all these fires under control. I read over the next few days there will be a cooling off period for much of the country.

Hopefully the grass will begin to grow and seed instead of just crunch and burn. Last year we had beautiful rains that helped produce lovely grass throughout this area. The free range cattle thrived on the nutrient rich grasses.

Tuesday:
The chicken's are growing and venturing out of their yard. They need to stay out longer and forage more, so they eat less store bought feed. I'm having a terrible time telling if some are roosters or hens. I have at least four roosters and I'm thinking seven, but I will just have to wait and see. I keep promising pictures, but have not picked up batteries yet. I need to make the dreaded trip to Wmart, but don't really want to. My cell camera just isn't that great.

Wednesday:
We have had to fire up the generator the last few days because of the lack of sun in the afternoons. Our carbon monoxide detector actually went off yesterday. The fumes must have gone around the house and into an open window. It was strange since most of the windows were open except the side of the house the generator was on and the window was closed in the room that the detector was in.

Thursday: I got nothing...

Friday:

We finished the organizing part of the house today. We still have some repairs to do, touch up paint etc... Number One and I worked on the permanent coop. The coyote's were out in full force last night. Hopefully, we will finish it the early part of next week.

A Strange Feeling...





Have you ever had a strange feeling that you just could not shake? Well, mine started yesterday afternoon. We took the day off since it was a holiday and we have been Spring (Summer) cleaning for at least a week now. Boy, when we are finished not one spot will have been missed, but that's another post.

My feeling really took on a strong form in the evening. We have had lots of cloud coverage, so not much power from the sun and decided to turn everything off and turn in early. I was out convincing the chickens to retire early too, so I could let the dogs out when I was overwhelmed with this dreadful feeling. I looked all around for a bear or something equivalent to my feeling, but found nothing. I got the chickens up, let the dogs out all the while searching, but still nothing.

Once my evening chores were finished, I came inside and checked the news on the computer before I turned it off and still there was nothing but the usual awful news that has plagued this world for way too long. I still have an anxiousness about me, but have failed to locate it's source. I was able to sleep well last night, so maybe the sky is not falling, yet...

What a great day to celebrate our country's Independence and our liberty. It was not freely given to us. Our fore father's blood and tears course through the veins of our country. Everyday our soldier's sacrifice life and limb to insure that we continue to have a great and free nation. Living Proof Live


I was blessed with the opportunity to go with a few of my dear sister's in Christ to a Beth Moore Living Proof Live Ministries Conference. It was AWESOME!!! Yes, I'm yelling at the top of my lungs. The auditorium was filled with thousands of women and a few men praising God. The Holy Spirit was definately with us as we worshipped our Lord.

The LPM team ministered to all the fire victims. The evacuee's received free admission, water and all the love they could handle. LPM continued blessing us by matching all the donations made to Samaratan's Purse. 100 % of all donations went directly to the fire victims. Praise God!

If you ever have the opportunity to attend one of these wonderful conferences, do it! You will be blessed and renewed. We stayed overnight at a fancy hotel, enjoyed a short time in the pool/ hot tub, ate way too much food and had a wonderful time of fellowship.

I have renewed my desire to complete my most important goals and with God's strength I will see them to fruition. The vail of my heart has been torn in two and I am ready for God's instruction in every aspect in my life.


 God, I'm listening. Help me to hear you and obey your will for me. In Jesus Christ name I pray. Amen and Amen
