Journal The Word Bible-KJV

I am a note taker. I always have been. I learn and absorb more when I take notes than when I don't. I can also look back into my reference notes when I need to. I have notebooks, binders and journals full of notes, doodles and quotes from all kinds of books, studies, sermons, ideas, recipes and so on... I do not write notes in any of my books, so I can re-read them, teach or share them with others.

Note To Self: Do a blog post on my recipe binders.

I also do not write in my Bible for more personal reasons. My Bible contains notes written on scraps of paper and sticky notes, but mostly I write on notepads or in notebooks. I have always thought that I would like to have a Journaling Bible to write down my feelings, notes, lessons next to the Scriptures that prompted my epiphanies and prayers without running over into the Scriptures.

There are many types of journaling Bibles. Some resemble coloring books, and others would be a scrapbooker's dream. I just want the Word in large print with plenty of space to take notes in the margins. After much time spent searching, I found what I needed In the Journal The Word Bible by Thomas-Nelson from Church Source

They are having a large sale on various resources including Bibles. I also had a coupon code for an additional 15% off, plus I received basically for free two other Bibles to give away by reaching the free shipping benefit. I know it sounds crazy, but I did the math and that is how it worked out. So basically, I purchased My Bible at a 55% discount plus two additional give away bibles for the cost of the shipping for $38.05 and that includes taxes.

I went back and forth on whether I wanted bonded leather or a hardback bible. The difference was $2. The genuine leather bible was $76.99 marked down from $139.99. I could not justify the added expense, since I was going to be journaling in this bible and one day it would be too full to continue writing in it. If I were purchasing a forever bible, I would definitely want the leather edition. Although I have a bonded leather bible that I have had for nearly 35 years that is in great shape except for the glue in the binding has failed. Now the bible lays flat which is one of the features of the journaling bible, so I am good with that. So, I chose the bonded leather edition.

You can see the reflection of my ceiling fan on the plastic wrapping in this picture.

It has a simple embossed front.

The thicker cream-colored paper is easier to focus on compared to bright white paper. It also is easier to write on and helps stop ink from bleeding through to the next page.

One ribbon marker. I prefer two, but I can always add another one or use a bookmark.

It lays flat, so it is easier to write on the pages.

It has lightly ruled margins for notetaking. I use a small point ink pen for this.

Large print is a must for me. It helps reduce eye strain while studying.

It has a couple of ruled pages in the back of the book for additional notes.

This is my first time writing in a Bible other than my name and date. I love this little-known fact about the Book of James.

I chose this Journaling Bible for it's simple and basic format. I do not need any distractions while studying the Word and that is why I did not choose any of the other artful types of Journaling Bibles. The world around me is distracting enough.

Choose The Good Part And Profit
Isaiah 48:17
17… “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.

God instructs us for our own benefit. He wants us to profit in every area of our lives — health, finances, career, marriage and family relationships. The Bible says that it is God who teaches us to profit. And it is He who leads us in the way that we should go.

God always has our best interests at heart. We only have to sit at His feet, listen to His Word and just have fresh, daily communion with Him, and He will make our way prosperous.

But we are constantly bombarded with things to do every day, like sending the kids to school, attending a business meeting or making a sales presentation. Likewise, in church, there are just as many important things to attend to — ministering to the needy, reaching out to the lost and healing the sick. But you know what? All these things will be taken care of when we sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to His Word.

What was the Lord’s response to Martha’s complaint that her sister was sitting at His feet and listening to Him, instead of helping her with the many tasks? “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41–42)

Yet, many of us are like Martha. We worry about many things. And we are so busy that we have no time to sit at Jesus’ feet to listen to His Word and enjoy communion with Him. When we fail to draw from Him, we end up running on our own strength, and relying on our own flesh and wisdom to get things done. Listen, you can never have a plan that is better than God’s!

My friend, do you want to be led by God’s wisdom and timing in your decision-making? Then, make it a point to choose the good part like Mary did. Spend time with Jesus, open your Bible and say, “Lord, speak to me.” You will find that your heavenly Father takes care of your troubles, and teaches and leads you to profit!

Joseph Prince Ministries Daily Devotional

1 Peter 5:8
vs 8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring
 lion,seeking whom he may devour.

The devil cannot just walk right up to you and rob you of your health, peace or family. He cannot just come into your life to enforce disease and destruction.

If the devil can do that, then he does not have to walk about “seeking whom he may devour”. He only has to walk straight up to anyone he wants to devour and devour him! But since the Bible says that he goes about seeking whom he may devour, the truth then is that there are people whom he cannot devour.

You see, the devil goes about like a roaring lion trying to stir up fear in people with his roars. But the people who are not devourable are those who refuse to be intimidated by his roars because they know that the true Lion of Judah, Jesus Christ (Revelation 5:5), has already come and rendered powerless him who had the power of death. (Hebrews 2:14, NASB) They know that the devil cannot just do anything to them because the Lion of Judah resides in them, and that He is greater than the devil who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

My friend, the Lion of Judah is in you. He has given you rights, privileges, authority and power. He redeemed you with His blood. Therefore, everything about you and your life is redeemed by His blood. So if you are fearful about losing your job, cover your job with the blood of Jesus. If you are worried about your children’s safety in these days of terrorist attacks, plead the blood of Jesus over them. If you have received a bad report from the doctor, speak the blood over yourself.

Whatever you have covered with the blood of Jesus, God declares, “Protected! Redeemed!” And the devil flees when he sees the blood. And when he flees, he takes with him sicknesses, diseases, pains, sufferings, destruction and loss.

Once the devil knows that you know who you are in Christ and what you have in Him, his days of intimidating you are over, and you are numbered among the undevourable!

Set Time Aside To Spend With God

Hebrews 13:20-22

New International Version (NIV)

Benediction and Final Greetings
20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Be sure to devote time to your studies with God daily. Reading God's word and spending time in prayer is important to help develop your personal relationship with God. This is one way we learn God's will for us. Listening for God's instruction is as important as studying.
Everyday in His word will prepare us for our everyday lives. He rejuvenates and restores us through his word. We receive His instruction through study and prayer.

Psalm 52:8
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.

During your time of study and prayer be sure and give thanks for all of your blessings and for the loving guidance He gives us every day.

Psalm 136:2
Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
