Out My Kitchen Window -It Has Begun - Forecast Has Drastically Changed

The wind has been blowing and howling all morning. It sounds like a winter storm. The wind sounds different in every season. The thermometer is plummeting. It is just rain right now, except the highest elevations are getting snow. We have dropped 14 degrees in less than an hour. This time of the year we can have temperatures swings of 50 degrees or more.

The mountains have faded into the rain and snow.

I took pictures of the fall colors before the rain began.

I was cleaning my lens, and this is what I saw. Sometimes
simple is the best.

Can you see the hunter stalking our herd
of pronghorns?

Gotcha! If they poach or hunt illegally in any way
we will turn them in.

The pronghorns always take refuge on
our property during hunting season. Hunters
always ask if they can hunt on our property. NO!
YOU CAN'T KILL OUR PETS!

I am heading to bed soon. Here is the latest...

Finally, A Cooling Off...

I was so wrong about my thoughts on the weather. I really thought it would be cooler during the day by now. It has been hot...

I desperately want to make a big pot of soup, but it has been too hot to even think about cooking inside for long periods of time. I have been baking bread between 5 am and 6 am with the windows open to keep the house from heating up.

What is strange to me is how cool the mornings have been for this many weeks without a cooling off of the daytime temperatures. The difference in temperatures is a swing of over 40 degrees. We are living in very strange times...

What a blessing it is when small storms pop up and the sun goes down.

Using both solar ovens to cook our meals has helped to keep the house cool. I have a pot of black beans heating up in one oven and I am baking cornbread in the other. Using the solar ovens has also saved us money on very expensive propane, which I am very dedicated to do after having to pay the highest price ever to fill up our tank. I will do a post on the cost of propane once it's filled and we get the bill
