More Flooding And Hail... Extreme Weather

We had a series storms blow through one after another over the weekend. We had hail stacked up against our doors. A regular broom could not clear it. It was heavy and compacted. Our yard was flooded. We had about four inches of standing water plus hail on top of that. These storms produced some severe weather as they continued to travel across the US.

We have not had a decent amount of sunlight for the last few weeks. Our home is completely solar powered, so it has been a challenge to say the least. It has also been very cool especially in the early mornings. Our chicken water actually had a solid sheet of ice on top of it. Our heater has been running too. It's the middle of June!

Small trenches were dug for the water to runoff faster. The ground was saturated from consecutive rainfall over the past few weeks. It eventually cleared, but we were soaked and chilled to the bone. The temperatures hovered around 40 degrees during the day and into the 30's in the evenings.

The burn ban has been lifted and fires are not a threat at this time, however, they skies have cleared, and the gusty winds have returned. The sun returning also means full battery banks. I am not sure what normal weather looks like anymore. Extremes seem to be the new normal. I am grateful for the rain and the sunshine at the same time. This sounds like a crazy statement, but we need both of them.

Flooding And Hail...

This monster storm circled us over and over again. It dumped rain and hail for hours. The plows had to be dispatched to clear the roads. It still looks like it snowed outside. It is a cool 48 degrees. More storms are on the way. We received around 3 inches of moisture within a few hours. It hailed for a solid hour. It was mainly Pea sized hail with some dime sized pieces.
