Are retailers and shoppers so desperate that they are willing to give up a day set apart for families and friends to get together and fellowship. What about the food, that glorious food? Isn't there even football or something?
I have never witnessed Black Friday on a personal level, however, I have gone out to see all the crazy people camping in line to get the next best trinket that will be next years trash. I like to save money too, but at what cost? What will it cost those people who go shopping instead of participating in a holiday steeped in tradition?
Most men don't appreciate the fine art of shopping. Maybe some of you are thinking that it would be a good time for the girls. The good time should be spent with your families. We already live in such a disposable society. Are we going to let our family traditions become the next sacrifice?
Shame on those retailers. I will not be participating in the further destruction of our American families. What's next, Christmas?
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen
Psalm 95:1-6 "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker." (KJV)
- Psalm 100 "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations." (KJV)
- Psalm 107:1 "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever." (NIV)
- Psalm 145:7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. (NIV)
- 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 "Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name." (KJV)
