The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. — Psalm 24:1
A dear friend of mine was the person that taught me this truth. She used to say this about her home and all that was in it that she was forced to share during an economic downturn.
She and her husband had to rent their home to vacationers and stay in a motel, with us or in a small dry cabin close to the property while others enjoyed their home and everything that was inside. And their home was fine, and all their belongings were fine. They were able to see this truth and share their blessings with others.
God blessed them and they were able to overcome their financial hardships and move closer to their grandchildren into a paid for home.
In Jewish culture, it is not unusual to find this verse written in books. This verse reminds us that everything we have is just on loan from God and that we should share with others as God has so faithfully shared with us.
Just imagine if we also applied this truth to relationships, we would cherish the relationship even more than we do. It would draw us closer and keep us grateful for the loved ones in our lives. How much different would everything look if we applied this truth to everything we possess and love?
