It Finally Cooled Off - Fly Hack

It finally cooled off today. I was able to bake three loaves of bread. We are back drought conditions, again. The monsoon rains were a month late and it seems that they have missed us completely so far. The strange thing was that last night the winds changed their tune. They were similar to our winter winds in both sound and direction.

My hens have stopped laying eggs in this heat and are molting again. They are getting old too, but I didn't want new chicks this year. Maybe next year. The buffalo on the ranch next to our place are drinking so much water that we are going to help out the rancher with watering. I hope to get some great pictures of them this week, but it really depends on where they are located on the ranch whether or not I can get decent pictures. It may take a few weeks of trying to get the photos that I want. I will share the photos when I get them.

Cooking outside has been a challenge due to the mosquitoes. We have been eating a lot of salads and sandwiches. The flies have also been plague-like. I discovered that 1/4 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of water sitting on the patio table keeps the flies away from the front door. This is a great hack to try. Now if I can figure out how to get rid of the mosquitoes without toxic spray. We don't spray because of the hummingbirds.

I really hope that everyone has a blessed week. Stay safe out there,

Mrs. Smith
