Big Jane is back! She has a nest somewhere in our yard. She is not afraid of us. She is just outside of our front door. I walked out the door this morning and talked to her. She often comes up to the window as if she's looking in to say hello.
Big Jane was just beyond the fence yesterday taking refuge in the safety of a small clump of weeds. All I could see was the tops of her ears. She will stay right where she is until dusk unless she gets spooked. Last year, she hung out under the solar panels with the chickens.
I enjoy our interactions with the wildlife. Mutual respect and boundaries are a must when it comes to wildlife and people for that matter. We stay in our lane and they stay in theirs. We get to enjoy their beauty, and they have the benefit of safety on our land.
