Homemade Garlic Salt And Other Flavorings

Spices can be very expensive. There are alternatives to buying spices. Growing your own is a simple way to save money. I grow mine in the window. Another way is to mix your own spices. Here is a simple recipe for garlic salt. My sister loves the brand name stuff. This has a better flavor and only cost pennies to make. The more we can save the more we can give....

Ingredients

Cover loosely, stir daily until garlic is completely dried(about 3 days) Remove garlic pieces.
Add about 1 tablespoon dried parsley. (optional)Transfer mixture to a salt shaker for convenience.

Save bacon fat and meat drippings to add flavoring to beans, soups and to make gravy.

Oven fried chicken drippings.
