A new small grocery store appeared sometime during the pandemic. Our postmistress told us about it sometime ago and we checked it out today. It is still 20 plus miles away, but closer than everything else. They had pretty decent prices and some prices are better than a regular grocery store especially in their produce isle.
The melons caught my eye. They were nice, big and inexpensive. I bought a honey dew and a cantaloupe for a total of $2.38. This is the cost of one cantaloupe at Sam's. The store was crowded and busy, so I didn't take any pictures. The staff were super friendly which was appreciated and rare these days.
Number One ran into a daddy who forgot his wallet who had promised his son an ice cream. He was .25 cents short, so I rummaged through the car and came up with a handful of change and gave it to the little man. I told him to save his money for his next ice cream. Someone else gave him a quarter to finish paying for his ice cream bar.
I didn't get to spend a lot of time looking around, but we are really happy for this new addition to our remote community. We will definitely support this new local business in our area so to speak...
