Happenings

We had to have some dirt work done on our driveway. It needed a little work. After it was finished, I hung out my laundry to dry. The laundry was a little backed up due to the weather. It was a beautiful day to hang the laundry out. We have to make hay while the sun shines, literally.

I also cleaned the top of the refrigerator and repotted a few plants. My aloe vera plant was hopelessly lopsided. I replanted the new growth and added some soil. I added soil to my spider plant too. I have a giant plant on top of my refrigerator that I can't remember the name of that was a gift from a friend of ours. It was just a tiny start a few years ago and now it spans over the top and down the sides of the refrigerator and touches the ceiling.

I couldn't get the whole plant in the picture. It stretches another two
feet to the right and another two feet towards the camera.

Much better!

I have a celery root and green onions growing next to my spider and orchid plants.
The orchid blooms several times a year.

I trimmed my angel winged begonia that is planted with my Thanksgiving cactus. If the picture shows up, I will place it below, but for some reason it's not available yet. Unfortunately, my peppermint and spearmint plants didn't survive this year. I had both of them for years. I hope to replace them one day.

It finally showed up!

I spotted this monster bull on another ranch on my way to the post office. There was another bull of equal size on the opposite side of the road. I stopped and took this picture. He posed beautifully.
He was more interested in his competition.

It's also time to put up the extra chairs and tables on the porch. It makes it a lot easier to clean the snow off the porch if we don't have to move all of them. We don't use the extra ones during the winter months anyway. Our guests usually visit during the warmer months of the year. We have visitors arriving at the end of the week, after they leave, we will store the extras until next spring

We are also going to change out our glass coffee table for our old coffee table. I love the shadow box coffee table, but it is not a very functional table. I miss my large marble table that I can set my heavy study books on along with my computer and my hot cup of tea. I scrubbed the marble table, and it is ready to put in place, but it is so heavy that we have been putting off moving it. Number One Husband's mother made it, so it is a very special piece to us.

I put together a turkey pepperoni pizza for dinner. it was delicious. I hadn't made a pizza in quite some time. We have been eating a lot of homemade soups and chili.

This Vegetarian Adzuki Bean Chili is the first chili of the season.

My polar fleece hoodie's sleeve developed a hole in the sleeve, so I cut off both sleeves to make a hoodie vest. I used the sleeves to cover my hot water bottle, and I use the cuffs as dust cloths. They make perfect dust cloths. They pick up everything!

The double thickness of the sleeves keeps the hot water bottle warm
until the next morning. I obviously had the phone
upside-down when I took this picture.

This picture shows the size of the plant on top of the refrigerator. This
picture is out of order. I don't know why I am having so many issues
with my pictures in this post. Sorry...

It's been a busy day, but I am so happy that I was able to get these things done, plus more! I like the days when I accomplish the things that need tending to. I don't like it when I have unfinished business. It hangs on me like a heavy stone neckless. I have to continually remind myself that I am not superwoman, nor do I want to be. I find more joy when I pace myself instead of feeling like I haven't accomplished enough. I am tough on myself sometimes and it is not helpful in the least. It is quite the opposite, so I give myself a break because the work will still be there tomorrow.

Shalom,
Mrs. Smith
