We were blessed with some much-needed moisture, but no snow to speak of. The rain knocked the dust out of the air and off the plants and gave everything a fresh new look. It's back up into the 60's today with the sun in full strength charging up our solar system.
Number One Husband had changed the oil in the generator a week ago as a part of his winter checklist. We both have a few odds and ends to tie up before winter really sets in. It won't be long now. I noticed that it was so quiet outside the last few days. I love the peace and solitude that winter brings.
It's unusual to go this long without long periods of sunshine. We had to run the generator in the for two evenings straight after a week of mostly cloudy skies. We ran out of power twice last week in the wee morning hours, before we had the generator in place. Once the sun came out, we were up and running again.
We conserved our power by avoiding the use of our power-sucking appliances that we use when we have an abundance of sun. We didn't do without; we just used different methods that we have in place. It's no big deal for us.
The ground is so dry. |
You can really tell the size difference. |
It takes about seven years for a male to be fully grown into a giant beast like the Boss. |
The buffalo are very curious and greet us regularly on our visits to check on them. They certainly are not afraid of us for good reason. They are a tight knit group. If they feel threatened, they will defend themselves and each other with great force. We respect their space for our own safety.
Stay safe and blessed,
Mrs. Smith
